Program Description Mentors have the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of different ways: Reading Mentor: read one-on-one or with a small group of students to help students increase strength and confidence in reading Homework Mentor: assist one to four students with their homework, helping them gain a better understanding of key concepts High School Application Mentor: help 7th and 8th grade students navigate the high school application process Special Projects Mentor: work with a group of two to four students on a special project based on the interests of the students and mentor Skills Passionate: TCG Mentor Program wants individuals who are passionate about working with children and helping them strive for success. Dependable: TCG Mentor Program wants individuals who are able to commit at least one hour each week for at least one year. It is important for mentors to be a consistent and dependable part of a child's life. Committed to Education: TCG Mentor Program wants individuals who are committed to promoting the education of children. Requirements The Community Group Mentor Program is looking for individuals who: *Are at least 14 years old *Currently have or are pursuing a high school diploma *Are able to comfortably read aloud *Are able to travel to the Lawrence area *Are willing to adhere to all program policies and procedures *Are willing to complete the application and screening process
Eligibility Looking from volunteers in the surrounding communities, males and females, ages 16 and up, site based, transportation not provided

Program Schedule Open year round!
Days/Hours The programs operate from 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday, giving mentors a wide range of options to fit their schedules and interests.
